To improve the public's total health, the mission of the New Mexico Dental Hygienists' Association
is to advance the art and science of dental hygiene by increasing the awareness of and esnuring access
to quality oral health care, promoting the highest standards of dental education, licensure and
practice, and representing and promoting the interests of dental hygienists.
The Goals of NMDHA:
Serve as the recognized authority for the profession of dental hygiene
Promote consumer advocacy in oral health care as part of total health
Achieve autonomy of dental hygiene education, licensure and practice
NMDHA represents the interests of over 800 dental hygienists in New Mexico. This non-profit,
volunteer based professional association serves all dental hygienists in New Mexio. We have a Board of
Trustees that is elected in the fall of each year and reviews our association goals and strategic plan. Our
goals and strategic plan are based on our mission statement, ensuring that tasks set forth by our Board are in
the best interests of the members and "potential members" we represent.
Our mission statement is in accordance with our national organization ADHA. Each January NMDHA holds a
strategic planning meeting, which helps us to focus on priorities for the coming year.
