Healthy Smiles was started in 1997. NMDHA and High Desert Dental Hygienists Society have anually provided
this clinic for the children in Albuquerque. To date about 1,500 children have received preventative
services including cleanings, sealants, fluoride treatments, oral hygiene education and
mouthguards. Over 100 dental hygienists, hygiene students and a few NMDHA supporting dentists and
dental assistants volunteer each year to keep this project alive.
