Kerri Willert, earned her Bachelors degree of Science in Dental Hygiene, with honors, from UNM’s Division of Dental Hygiene, Department of Dental Medicine in 2019. Since then she has practiced with Dr. Ben Tingey DMD in Albuquerque.
Kerri’s interest in NMDHA and its parent organization, ADHA, began with her election in 2017 to the position of SADHA President of the class of 2019. That year she had the privilege of attending ADHA’s Annual Conference which stoked her interest in the association and its work.
Kerri served as NMDHA Delegate in 2020 and is looking forward to the 2020-2021 year as she serves as NMDHA’s President Elect!
Outside of the professional sphere, Kerri enjoys cooking, gardening, and reading.

Lisa Esparza, a health champion!

(Posted: 11/08/2021)
On October 30, 2021 Special Olympics New Mexico recognized Lisa Esparza by presenting her with 2 awards, one being the Golisano Health Leadership Award for 2020, a NATIONAL award, and a second Health Leadership Award for Distinguished Service to the Special Olympics in 2021.
These prestigious awards were presented to Lisa in recognition of her outstanding leadership in Special Olympics New Mexico health programming and her ongoing commitment to advancing inclusive health for people with intellectual disabilities.
She further received a certificate stating that the award was created to recognize a local health champion for their extraordinary effort to fulfill the goals, values, and mission of Special Olympics global health program, made possible by the Golisano Foundation.
This is the HIGHEST HONOR that Special Olympics awards those who have worked to promote healthcare, wellness and fitness for people with intellectual disabilities.
NMDHA congratulates Lisa on her outstanding contribution!
A big Thank-You from Lisa:
A special initiative like this was made possible by funding and/or volunteer support of specific non-profit NMDHA, HDDHS, NMDOH organizations, Delta Dental of NM and their public relations team for over 20 years and ACC Mobile Dental Care (Ginny Berger). Through these years we have had countless loyal dental hygienists, dental hygiene students, pre-dental students and licensed dentists and their staff that have volunteered at these events. The organization of these annual events was a collaboration of various dental hygienists but our veteran organizers were Kitty Rivera, Lisa Mercer, Gigi Chinisci, Glenelle Butler, Barbara Posler, Pam Morris, Erik Smith, Kelly Valdez-Ayres, Jane Dehner, Norma Sommers, Tammy Urvanejo, Dr. Ray Lyons, Dr. Alicia Grady, Dr. Keon Ahghar and Dr. Kyle Henry. My apologies in advance if I missed anyone that was a repeat volunteer. I know we all participate not for the recognition but because we love the athletes and Special Olympics of NM.
