NMDHA Shines The Light on Vivian Doan Barker

(Posted: 09/28/2022)
Vivian was born and raised in San Francisco, CA and later moved to Charlotte, NC for 7 years before moving to Albuquerque, NM.
Vivian is the oldest of 5, 4 girls & 1 boy. She had a rough childhood starting at age 11 when her dad began to dive into addictive habits, which pushed Vivian into looking after her 4 siblings. Because of this, Vivian and her siblings created special memories and a very close bond.
Vivian moved to Albuquerque to help take care of her youngest sister when she had ovarian cancer and Vivian has been here ever since.
Vivian married Michael in July 2018. Michael is in the USAF and moved to Texas Oct. 2021. Vivian goes to visit him as often as possible. Michael will retire from the USAF in November 2023. Through Michael, Vivian has a stepson who lives in Seattle, WA.
Vivian enjoys staying active and recently fell in love with cycling. She also loves to travel & care for others. One way she shows her care for others is by cooking for them. She truly enjoys cooking, smoking meat and baking! When Vivian is in town, she cooks Sunday dinner for her family and anyone else who wants to partake!
Vivian started Bakes For Angels after her brother was killed on Feb 26, 2022 to help grieving hearts one bake at a time. She is hoping that Bakes For Angels will turn into a nonprofit one day!
Vivian traveled to Ethiopia to talk to a large group of children and mothers about dental care and she’s been to Haiti to provide dental cleanings at a clinic. Vivian initially worked for 5 years in various nursing homes throughout New Mexico to care for the residents, then transitioned into private practice 2 years ago. Her goal in her dental hygiene career is to care for patients in the same way she would want her family to be treated.
During the years Vivian has volunteered with NMDHA as PR Chair, Website Manager, and Secretary, she has been the exact same person she is with her family and her patients, an extremely caring person with a big heart who always has a kind word to say to all she meets. NMDHA is, and always has been so proud and fortunate to have Vivian on board. Thank you Vivian!
